Judge Kathleen M. O'Malley (Ret.)
Judge Kathleen O'Malley served with distinction for over 27 years in the federal judiciary—first as a district court judge on U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and then as a Circuit Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Her judicial tenure was marked by intellectual rigor, fairness, and an deep understanding of the law, especially in intellectual property and complex litigation.
After leaving the bench, Judge O’Malley established Kate O'Malley LLC to provide legal consulting, strategic guidance in litigation and appeals, arbitration and mediation services, and expert witness testimony. She brings not only legal knowledge but judicial insight that helps attorneys anticipate what matters to judges and decision-makers.

Lana Guthrie, who has worked with Judge O’Malley since 2009—first as her career law clerk and now as a legal consultant—brings expert legal research and writing, analytical depth, and deep familiarity with appellate and trial-level strategy.
